  • 3 pounds Beef chuck roast
  • 1 large Yellow onion
  • 3 whole Garlic cloves
  • 2 cups Barbecue sauce
  • 1 cup Beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons Brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Ground mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable oil

Directions

Step 1

Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the vegetable oil.

Season the beef chuck roast on all sides with kosher salt and black pepper.

Step 3

Sear the beef in the hot skillet until browned on all sides, about 2-3 minutes per side. Transfer the beef to the crock pot.
