Ingredients

  • 500 grams broccoli
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 3 whole garlic cloves
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 teaspoons rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 2 teaspoons toasted sesame seeds
  • 2 stalks green onions (scallions)
  • 0.5 teaspoon red chili flakes (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Wash the broccoli thoroughly and cut it into small florets. Peel and dice the broccoli stem into bite-sized pieces (optional, if using).

Step 2

Peel and finely mince the garlic cloves. Peel and grate the fresh ginger.

Step 3

Slice the green onions thinly, separating the white and green parts.

Step 4

In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey, and red chili flakes (if using) for the sauce. Set aside.

Step 5

Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the sesame oil and let it heat for a few seconds.

Step 6

Add the minced garlic, grated ginger, and the white parts of the green onions to the skillet. Stir-fry for 1 minute until fragrant.

Step 7

Add the broccoli florets and stems to the skillet. Stir-fry for 5-6 minutes, or until the broccoli is tender but still crisp. Stir frequently to ensure even cooking.

Step 8

Pour the prepared sauce over the broccoli, tossing to coat evenly. Cook for an additional 2 minutes, letting the sauce thicken slightly.

Step 9

Sprinkle toasted sesame seeds and the sliced green parts of the scallions over the broccoli.

Step 10

Serve hot as a side dish or pair it with steamed rice for a complete meal.
