Ingredients

  • 1 cup Heavy cream
  • 0.5 cup Granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 6 ounces Dark chocolate, chopped (or semi-sweet chocolate chips)
  • 2 tablespoons Cocoa powder (unsweetened)
  • 1 tablespoon Orange zest
  • 2 tablespoons Freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 0.25 teaspoon Salt

Directions

Step 1

In a medium saucepan, combine the heavy cream, granulated sugar, and unsalted butter over medium heat. Stir frequently until the butter is fully melted and the sugar has dissolved. This should take about 2-3 minutes.

Step 2

Once the mixture is hot but not boiling, add the chopped dark chocolate and cocoa powder. Whisk constantly until the chocolate is completely melted and the mixture is smooth.

Step 3

Reduce the heat to low and stir in the orange zest, freshly squeezed orange juice, vanilla extract, and salt. Continue to whisk until all the ingredients are well combined and the sauce is glossy and thickened, about 2-3 minutes.

Step 4

Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the fudge sauce cool slightly for 2-3 minutes before serving.

Step 5

Serve the Orange Fudge Sauce warm over ice cream, waffles, pancakes, or fresh fruit. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week. Reheat gently before serving.
