Ingredients

  • 1.5 pounds Ground turkey (93% lean)
  • 2 tablespoons Chopped fresh parsley
  • 2 tablespoons Chopped scallions (green parts only)
  • 1 tablespoon Chopped fresh garlic
  • 1 teaspoon Chopped fresh oregano or dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon Hot sauce (like Tabasco)
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil
  • 4 pieces Whole wheat hamburger buns
  • 4 pieces Lettuce leaves
  • 4 pieces Tomato slices
  • 0 Your favorite burger condiments (optional)

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey, parsley, scallions, garlic, oregano, hot sauce, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently with your hands, being careful not to overwork the meat.

Step 2

Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each portion into a burger patty about 1/2 inch thick. Ensure the patties are evenly shaped for even cooking.

Step 3

Heat the olive oil in a large nonstick skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat.

Step 4

Once the pan is hot, add the turkey patties and cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side. Flip them carefully and cook for another 4-5 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C) to ensure they are fully cooked.

Step 5

While the burgers are cooking, lightly toast the whole wheat hamburger buns if desired.

Step 6

To assemble the burgers, place a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each bun, followed by a cooked turkey patty and a slice of tomato. Add your favorite condiments, such as mustard, ketchup, or mayonnaise, if desired.

Step 7

Top with the other half of the bun, serve immediately, and enjoy!
