Ingredients

  • 4 pieces Bone-in pork chops
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon Dried rosemary
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 1 large Yellow onion
  • 1 cup Chicken broth
  • 1 cup Grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh parsley (optional for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Pat the pork chops dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt, black pepper, thyme, rosemary, and garlic powder.

Step 2

Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, sear the pork chops for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown. Remove the pork chops from the skillet and set aside.

Step 3

Reduce the heat to medium and add the unsalted butter to the skillet. Once melted, add the yellow onion, thinly sliced, and sauté for 5-7 minutes until soft and caramelized.

Step 4

Pour in the chicken broth and scrape up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet. Bring the mixture to a simmer.

Step 5

Return the pork chops to the skillet, cover, and cook for 12-15 minutes, or until the internal temperature of the pork reads 145°F (63°C) with a meat thermometer.

Step 6

Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese evenly over the pork chops. Continue to cook uncovered for 2-3 minutes until the cheese melts and forms a luscious topping.

Step 7

Remove the skillet from the heat. Let the pork chops rest for 5 minutes, then garnish with fresh parsley if desired and serve warm.
