  • 2 cups Granulated sugar
  • 0.75 cup Unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1.5 teaspoons Baking powder
  • 1.5 teaspoons Baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 1 cup Whole milk
  • 0.5 cup Vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla extract
  • 1 cup Boiling water

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans or line them with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.

Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the bowl. Using a hand mixer or a stand mixer, beat the mixture on medium speed for about 2 minutes, until smooth and fully blended.

Carefully pour in the boiling water and mix on low speed until the batter is thin and fully combined.

Step 5

Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.

Step 6

Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cakes comes out clean.

Step 7

Remove the cakes from the oven and let them cool in the pans for about 10 minutes. Then, transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely before frosting or serving.

Step 8

Frost with your favorite chocolate frosting or enjoy as is!
