Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground beef
  • 1 lb Bacon, diced
  • 1 Onion, chopped
  • 2 15-oz cans Canned pork and beans
  • 1 15-oz can Canned kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 15-oz can Canned butter beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 cup Ketchup
  • 0.5 cup Brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp Molasses
  • 1 tbsp Yellow mustard
  • 2 tbsp Cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 0.5 tsp Black pepper
  • 0.5 tsp Liquid smoke (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Step 2

In a large skillet, cook the diced bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove the bacon with a slotted spoon and set aside, leaving the rendered grease in the pan.

Step 3

Add the ground beef and chopped onion to the skillet with the bacon grease. Cook over medium heat until the beef is browned and the onion is tender. Drain any excess grease.

Step 4

In a large mixing bowl, combine the pork and beans, kidney beans, and butter beans.

Step 5

Add the cooked bacon, browned beef, and onions to the bean mixture.

Step 6

To the bowl, stir in ketchup, brown sugar, molasses, mustard, cider vinegar, salt, black pepper, and liquid smoke (if using). Mix all ingredients well until thoroughly combined.

Step 7

Transfer the mixture to a large oven-safe baking dish or Dutch oven, spreading it out evenly.

Step 8

Cover the dish with a lid or aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour.

Step 9

Remove the cover and bake for an additional 30 minutes to allow the top to caramelize slightly.

Step 10

Remove from the oven and let cool for 5-10 minutes before serving.

Step 11

Serve warm as a side dish or main course. Enjoy!
