Ingredients

  • 1 pound Bacon
  • 1 pound Ground beef
  • 1 medium, diced Onion
  • 30 ounces (2 cans) Pork and beans
  • 15 ounces (1 can, drained and rinsed) Kidney beans
  • 15 ounces (1 can, drained and rinsed) Butter beans
  • 0.5 cup Brown sugar
  • 0.5 cup Ketchup
  • 0.5 cup Barbecue sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon Black pepper

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Step 2

In a large skillet, cook the bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove the bacon from the skillet, crumble it, and set it aside. Reserve 1 tablespoon of the bacon drippings in the skillet.

Step 3

In the same skillet with the reserved bacon drippings, cook the ground beef and diced onion together over medium heat until the beef is browned and the onion is soft. Drain any excess grease.

Step 4

In a large mixing bowl, combine the pork and beans (undrained), drained kidney beans, drained butter beans, crumbled bacon, cooked ground beef and onions, brown sugar, ketchup, barbecue sauce, mustard, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.

Step 5

Pour the bean mixture into a 9x13-inch baking dish, spreading it evenly.

Step 6

Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 60 minutes.

Step 7

After 60 minutes, remove the foil and bake for an additional 30 minutes, or until the beans are bubbling and the sauce has thickened.

Step 8

Remove from the oven and let the baked beans rest for 10 minutes before serving. Enjoy this hearty dish with cornbread or your favorite barbecue items!
