Ingredients

  • 1 cup long-grain white rice
  • 4 cups whole milk
  • 0.333 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 cup raisins (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Rinse the rice under cold water to remove excess starch, then drain well.

Step 2

Grease the inside of the slow cooker with 1 tablespoon of butter to prevent sticking.

Step 3

Add the rinsed rice, milk, sugar, remaining butter, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and salt to the slow cooker. Stir to combine.

Step 4

If using raisins, add them to the slow cooker and stir again.

Step 5

Cover and cook on low heat for 4 hours, stirring occasionally to ensure the rice cooks evenly and doesn't stick to the bottom.

Step 6

After 4 hours, check the consistency. The rice should be tender and the pudding creamy. If it's too thick, stir in a little more milk until it reaches your desired texture.

Step 7

Turn off the slow cooker and let the rice pudding cool slightly before serving.

Step 8

Serve warm or chilled, garnished with an extra sprinkle of cinnamon if desired. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
