Ingredients

  • 120 grams unsalted butter
  • 200 grams granulated sugar
  • 100 grams brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 240 ml unsweetened applesauce
  • 250 grams all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 100 grams raisins (optional)
  • 100 grams chopped walnuts (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F) and grease a 9-inch (23 cm) round or square cake pan. Line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar together until light and fluffy, about 3–5 minutes.

Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
