  • 1 cup Boiling water

  • 0.25 cup Whole milk
  • 2.25 teaspoons Active dry yeast
  • 0.25 cup Warm water (110°F)
  • 3.5 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 large Egg
  • 2 tablespoons Extra rolled oats (for topping)

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the rolled oats and boiling water. Let it sit for 5 minutes until the oats soften.

Step 2

Add the butter, honey, salt, and milk to the oatmeal mixture. Stir until the butter is melted. Allow the mixture to cool to lukewarm.

Step 3

In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in the warm water (110°F). Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.

Add the yeast mixture to the oatmeal mixture and stir to combine.
