Ingredients

  • 2 cups Rolled oats
  • 1.5 cups All-purpose flour
  • 0.75 cups Brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 teaspoons Baking soda
  • 0.25 teaspoons Salt
  • 0.75 cups Unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cups Apple butter
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8x8-inch (20x20 cm) baking pan with parchment paper, leaving a slight overhang for easy removal later.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, combine the rolled oats, all-purpose flour, brown sugar, ground cinnamon, baking soda, and salt. Mix until well incorporated.

Step 3

Pour the melted unsalted butter and vanilla extract into the dry ingredients. Stir until the mixture becomes crumbly and evenly moistened.

Step 4

Set aside 1 cup of the crumb mixture for the topping. Press the remaining mixture firmly into the bottom of the prepared baking pan to create an even layer.

Step 5

Spread the apple butter evenly over the pressed oat layer, leaving a small border around the edges to prevent sticking.

Step 6

Sprinkle the reserved crumb mixture evenly over the apple butter, gently pressing it down to hold its shape.

Step 7

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the apple butter layer is set.

Step 8

Remove from the oven and allow the bars to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack. Once cooled, use the parchment paper overhang to lift the bars out of the pan.

Step 9

Cut into 12 evenly sized squares or bars. Serve immediately or store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
