  • 2 pounds ground beef

  • 2 medium onion, finely chopped

  • 56 ounces diced tomatoes (with juice)
  • 29 ounces tomato sauce
  • 12 ounces tomato paste
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 2 teaspoons dried parsley
  • 2 teaspoons dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoons crushed red pepper flakes
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 2 count bay leaves
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Directions

Step 1

Heat a large stockpot over medium-high heat and add the olive oil.

Add the ground beef and Italian sausage to the pot. Cook until browned, breaking it up with a wooden spoon, about 10 minutes. Drain excess grease if necessary.

Add the finely chopped onion and cook for 5-7 minutes, or until softened.
