Ingredients

  • 300 grams Ground pork
  • 150 grams Raw shrimp, peeled, deveined, and chopped
  • 50 grams Water chestnuts, finely chopped
  • 2 stalks Green onions, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons Soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Cornstarch
  • 0.5 teaspoon White pepper
  • 30 pieces Wonton wrappers
  • 1 tablespoon Carrot, finely diced

Directions

Step 1

In a large bowl, combine the ground pork, chopped shrimp, and finely chopped water chestnuts.

Step 2

Add the chopped green onions, soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, sugar, cornstarch, and white pepper to the mixture. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well combined and the filling is sticky.

Step 3

Place 1 wonton wrapper in the palm of your hand and spoon about 1 tablespoon of filling into the center.

Step 4

Bring the edges of the wrapper up around the filling, gently pleating the sides. Leave the top open to expose the filling and press lightly to shape it into a round dumpling.

Step 5

Garnish the top of each siu mai with a small amount of finely diced carrot for color.

Step 6

Line a steamer basket with parchment paper or cabbage leaves to prevent sticking.

Step 7

Arrange the siu mai in the steamer basket, leaving some space between each dumpling to allow steam to circulate.

Step 8

Cover and steam over boiling water for about 10-12 minutes, or until the filling is cooked through.

Step 9

Serve immediately, directly from the steamer, accompanied by soy sauce or your favorite dipping sauce.
