Ingredients

  • 200 g glutinous rice flour
  • 180 ml hot water
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 medium carrot, finely diced
  • 100 g cabbage, shredded
  • 100 g shiitake mushrooms, finely chopped
  • 2 green onions, finely chopped
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.25 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp white sesame seeds

Directions

Step 1

In a mixing bowl, combine glutinous rice flour and hot water. Stir to form a dough, then knead until smooth and elastic. Cover with a damp cloth and let it rest for 15 minutes.

Step 2

In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and grated ginger, sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

Step 3

Add the diced carrot, shredded cabbage, and chopped shiitake mushrooms to the skillet. Cook for 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are softened.

Step 4

Stir in soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and black pepper. Cook for another 2 minutes, then remove from heat. Mix in the chopped green onions.

Step 5

Divide the resting dough into small portions, about 20 grams each, and roll each into a ball.

Step 6

Flatten each ball into a small disk with your hands. Place a teaspoon of the filling in the center of each disk.

Step 7

Carefully fold the edges of the dough over the filling and pinch to seal, forming a small dumpling.

Step 8

Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Carefully drop dumplings into boiling water, being careful not to overcrowd them.

Step 9

Boil the dumplings for 5-6 minutes or until they float to the surface.

Step 10

Remove the dumplings with a slotted spoon and drain well.

Step 11

Serve the dumplings warm, sprinkled with white sesame seeds.
