Ingredients

  • 8 cups day-old brioche or challah bread
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 0.75 cups granulated sugar
  • 0.25 cups light brown sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1.5 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 0.75 cups dark chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 0.5 cups caramel sauce, for serving

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with butter or non-stick cooking spray.

Step 2

Cut the day-old brioche or challah bread into 1-inch cubes and spread them evenly in the prepared baking dish.

Step 3

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, whole milk, granulated sugar, light brown sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and salt until fully combined.

Step 4

Pour the custard mixture evenly over the bread cubes, ensuring they are well-soaked. If needed, gently press down on the bread with the back of a spoon to help it absorb the liquid.

Step 5

Allow the mixture to sit for about 10 minutes to let the bread soak up the custard.

Step 6

Sprinkle the dark chocolate chips evenly across the top of the bread mixture.

Step 7

Cut the unsalted butter into small pieces and scatter them over the surface of the pudding.

Step 8

Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 45–50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the custard is set but slightly jiggly in the center.

Step 9

Remove from the oven and let the pudding cool for at least 10 minutes before serving.

Step 10

Drizzle generously with warm caramel sauce before serving. Serve warm and enjoy!
