Ingredients

  • 12 sheets Lasagna noodles
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 1 pound Ground beef
  • 0.5 pound Italian sausage
  • 1 medium Onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons Tomato paste
  • 28 ounces Canned crushed tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon Dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon Dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 15 ounces Ricotta cheese
  • 1 Egg
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh parsley, chopped
  • 4 cups Shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 0.5 cup Grated Parmesan cheese

Directions

Step 1

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the lasagna noodles until al dente, according to package instructions. Drain the noodles and lay them flat on a clean surface to prevent sticking.

Step 2

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef and Italian sausage, breaking them into small pieces. Cook until browned, about 5 minutes. Use a slotted spoon to remove excess grease.

Step 3

Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet with the browned meat. Cook until the onion is translucent, about 3 minutes.

Step 4

Stir in the tomato paste, crushed tomatoes, oregano, basil, salt, and black pepper. Reduce the heat and let the sauce simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Step 5

In a medium-sized mixing bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, egg, and fresh parsley. Stir until smooth and creamy.

Step 6

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Step 7

In a 9x13-inch baking dish, spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom.

Step 8

Place a layer of cooked lasagna noodles over the sauce, slightly overlapping them.

Step 9

Spread one-third of the ricotta mixture over the noodles, followed by a sprinkle of mozzarella cheese and a thin layer of meat sauce.

Step 10

Repeat the layering process two more times: noodles, ricotta mixture, mozzarella, and meat sauce. Finish the top with a generous layer of shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese.

Step 11

Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.

Step 12

Remove the foil and bake for an additional 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.

Step 13

Let the lasagna cool for 10 minutes before slicing and serving. Enjoy!
