Ingredients

  • 2 pounds Stew beef (cubed)
  • 4 medium Potatoes (peeled and cubed)
  • 3 medium Carrots (sliced)
  • 2 stalks Celery (chopped)
  • 1 large Yellow onion (chopped)
  • 1 cup Frozen peas
  • 1 can (10.75 oz) Tomato soup
  • 2 cups Beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 2 Bay leaves
  • 2 tablespoons All-purpose flour

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C).

Step 2

In a large oven-safe roasting pan or Dutch oven, combine the cubed stew beef, potatoes, carrots, celery, and chopped onion.

Step 3

Sprinkle the flour evenly over the beef and vegetables, then toss gently to coat everything.

Step 4

Add the tomato soup, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper to the pan. Stir to combine all the ingredients well.

Step 5

Drop in the bay leaves and stir them into the mixture.

Step 6

Cover the pan tightly with a lid or aluminum foil to seal in the moisture.

Step 7

Place the pan in the preheated oven and cook for 3 hours. Do not open the oven or peek at the stew during this time.

Step 8

After 3 hours, carefully remove the pan from the oven. Stir in the frozen peas, cover again, and let the stew rest for 5 minutes to heat the peas through.

Step 9

Remove and discard the bay leaves before serving.

Step 10

Serve hot with crusty bread or over rice for a complete meal.
