Ingredients

  • 2 lbs Ground beef (80/20 or similar)
  • 1 cup Breadcrumbs
  • 0.5 cup Milk
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 1 medium Yellow onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 0.5 cup Ketchup
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 0.5 tsp Black pepper
  • 2 tbsp Parsley, chopped (optional)
  • 0.25 cup Ketchup (for topping)
  • 1 tbsp Brown sugar (for topping)
  • 1 tsp Mustard (for topping)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, combine the breadcrumbs and milk. Let the mixture sit for 2-3 minutes to allow the breadcrumbs to absorb the milk.

Step 3

Add the ground beef, eggs, chopped onion, minced garlic, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, and parsley (if using) to the breadcrumb mixture.

Step 4

Using your hands or a sturdy spatula, gently mix the ingredients until just combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can make the meatloaf tough.

Step 5

Transfer the meat mixture to the prepared loaf pan. Press it down gently to ensure it’s even, but don't pack it too tightly.

Step 6

In a small bowl, combine the ketchup, brown sugar, and mustard for the topping. Spread this mixture evenly over the top of the meatloaf.

Step 7

Place the loaf pan in the preheated oven and bake for 55-60 minutes, or until the internal temperature of the meatloaf reaches 160°F (71°C).

Step 8

Once cooked, remove the meatloaf from the oven and let it rest in the pan for 10 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute, making the loaf easier to slice.

Step 9

Carefully remove the meatloaf from the pan, slice, and serve warm alongside your favorite sides, such as mashed potatoes or green beans.
