Ingredients

  • 2 racks Pork ribs (baby back or spare ribs)
  • 2 tablespoons Brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Chili powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Cayenne pepper (optional for heat)
  • 1 cup Barbecue sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Honey
  • 0.5 cup Water

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).

Step 2

Remove the membrane from the back of the pork ribs using a knife or paper towel for better seasoning penetration and tenderness.

Step 3

In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, chili powder, and cayenne pepper (if using). This is your dry rub.

Step 4

Rub the prepared seasoning all over both sides of the ribs generously.

Step 5

Wrap each rack of ribs tightly in aluminum foil, creating a sealed packet, and place them on a baking sheet.

Step 6

Bake the foil-wrapped ribs in the preheated oven for 2.5 hours, or until the ribs are tender and the meat is beginning to pull away from the bones.

Step 7

While the ribs are baking, prepare the barbecue glaze. In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine barbecue sauce, apple cider vinegar, honey, and water. Stir well and heat until slightly thickened, then set aside.

Step 8

Once the ribs have finished baking, carefully remove them from the oven and unwrap the foil (caution: steam will be hot). Transfer the ribs to a grill or broiler-safe tray.

Step 9

Preheat your grill to medium heat or set your oven broiler to high.

Step 10

Generously brush the ribs with the prepared barbecue glaze on both sides. Grill for 5-7 minutes per side, or broil for 4-5 minutes, until the glaze is caramelized and slightly charred.

Step 11

Remove the ribs from the heat, let them rest for 5 minutes, then slice into individual portions and serve hot.
