Ingredients

  • 1 pound Ground beef
  • 0.5 pound Ground pork
  • 1 large Egg
  • 0.5 cup Breadcrumbs
  • 0.25 cup Milk
  • 2 tablespoons Ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Oil (for cooking)
  • 4 pieces Hamburger buns
  • 4 leaves Lettuce
  • 1 large Tomato
  • 4 slices Cheddar cheese slices

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, egg, breadcrumbs, milk, ketchup, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently with your hands until just combined. Do not overmix to avoid dense patties.

Step 2

Divide the meat mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each portion into a round burger patty, about 1 inch thick.

Step 3

Heat a tablespoon of oil in a large non-stick skillet or grill pan over medium heat.

Step 4

Place the patties in the skillet and cook for about 5-6 minutes per side, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C). Avoid pressing down on the patties while cooking to retain their juiciness.

Step 5

During the last minute of cooking, place a cheddar cheese slice on top of each patty and allow it to melt.

Step 6

While the patties are cooking, slice the tomato into 4 even slices and prepare the burger toppings, including lettuce leaves.

Step 7

Toast the hamburger buns lightly on a separate pan or under the broiler for a minute until golden brown.

Step 8

Assemble the burgers: Place a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each bun, followed by the cooked patty with melted cheese, a tomato slice, and the top half of the bun.

Step 9

Serve immediately with your favorite sides like fries, salad, or coleslaw.
