Ingredients

  • 4 large sweet onions (such as Vidalia)
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1.5 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 0.5 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x13-inch casserole dish and set it aside.

Peel and slice the onions into thin rings. In a large skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat and sauté the onions for 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they are soft and lightly golden. Set aside.
