Ingredients

  • 56 oz canned baked beans
  • 6 slices bacon
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1 medium green bell pepper
  • 0.25 cup brown sugar
  • 0.25 cup molasses
  • 0.5 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons yellow mustard
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 0.5 cup Neely's Barbecue Sauce (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Step 2

Open the canned baked beans and pour them into a 2-quart oven-safe baking dish.

Step 3

Cut the bacon into small pieces and cook in a skillet over medium heat until crispy. Remove the bacon and place it on a paper towel-lined plate to drain. Reserve the bacon grease in the skillet.

Step 4

Finely dice the onion and green bell pepper. In the same skillet with the bacon grease, sauté the onion and bell pepper over medium heat until they are soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.

Step 5

Add the cooked onion and bell pepper to the baking dish with the beans.

Step 6

Mix in the brown sugar, molasses, ketchup, mustard, apple cider vinegar, and Neely’s Barbecue Sauce, if using.

Step 7

Stir the ingredients thoroughly to ensure they are evenly combined.

Step 8

Top the mixture with the crispy bacon pieces.

Step 9

Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake uncovered for 1 hour, or until the sauce is thickened and bubbly.

Step 10

Remove the dish from the oven and let it cool for 5–10 minutes before serving. Enjoy your Neely’s Barbecue Baked Beans!
