Ingredients

  • 4 pieces ripe medium-sized tomatoes
  • 12 leaves fresh basil leaves
  • 60 grams Parmesan cheese
  • 100 grams breadcrumbs
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 0.5 teaspoons black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoons salt

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 190°C (375°F). Lightly grease a baking dish with a small amount of olive oil.

Step 2

Wash the tomatoes and cut them in half horizontally. Use a spoon to gently scoop out the seeds and juice, creating a hollow cavity in each half. Set the tomato halves cut-side up in the prepared baking dish.

Step 3

Finely chop the garlic cloves and basil leaves. In a medium bowl, combine the breadcrumbs, chopped garlic, chopped basil, grated Parmesan cheese, olive oil, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until the mixture is evenly combined and slightly moistened.

Step 4

Spoon the breadcrumb mixture into each tomato half, packing it gently with a spoon to create a slight mound on top.

Step 5

Drizzle a small amount of olive oil over the stuffed tomatoes to ensure a golden crust.

Step 6

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the tomatoes are tender and the breadcrumb topping is golden and crispy.

Step 7

Remove the baking dish from the oven and let the tomatoes cool for a few minutes. Garnish with extra basil leaves, if desired, and serve warm.
