Ingredients

  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons Baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoons Salt
  • 4 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 0.75 cups Whole milk

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Whisk together to evenly distribute the leavening agent and salt.

Step 3

Cut the cold unsalted butter into small cubes and add it to the flour mixture. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to work the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Step 4

Make a well in the center of the mixture and pour in the milk. Stir gently with a wooden spoon or rubber spatula until the dough starts to come together, being careful not to overmix.

Step 5

Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead it 6-8 times until it holds together. Pat or roll the dough into a circle about 1/2 inch thick.

Step 6

Using a round biscuit cutter (or the rim of a glass), cut out biscuits and place them on an ungreased baking sheet. Gather the scraps, re-roll, and cut out additional biscuits until all the dough is used.

Step 7

Bake the biscuits in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown.

Step 8

Remove the biscuits from the oven and let cool slightly before serving. Serve warm with your favorite toppings or alongside a main dish.
