Ingredients

  • 6 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1.5 cups Warm water (110°F)
  • 1 cup Whole milk
  • 0.5 cup Unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 packet Active dry yeast
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 tablespoons Butter (for brushing)

Directions

Step 1

In a small bowl, combine the warm water and 1 tablespoon of the granulated sugar. Sprinkle the yeast on top and let it proof for 5-10 minutes or until it becomes frothy.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the milk, melted butter, eggs, remaining sugar, and salt. Mix in the proofed yeast mixture until combined.

Step 3

Gradually add the flour, 1 cup at a time, mixing well between additions. The dough should start to come together but remain slightly sticky.

Step 4

Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for 8-10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. Alternatively, use a stand mixer with the dough hook attachment for about 5-6 minutes.

Step 5

Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-1.5 hours or until doubled in size.

Step 6

Punch down the dough and divide it into 24 equal portions. Roll each portion into a ball and place them on a greased or parchment-lined baking sheet, spacing them about 1 inch apart.

Step 7

Cover the rolls with the kitchen towel and let them rise again for 30-40 minutes, or until puffy and almost doubled in size.

Step 8

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

Step 9

Bake the rolls for 15-18 minutes, or until they are golden brown and sound hollow when tapped on the bottom.

Step 10

Remove the rolls from the oven and immediately brush the tops with the 2 tablespoons of butter for a glossy, flavorful finish.

Step 11

Allow the buns to cool slightly before serving. They are best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
