Ingredients

  • 4 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1 cup Whole milk
  • 8 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 2.25 teaspoons Active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 1 cup Brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons Ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 0 Nonstick cooking spray
  • 1 cup Powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 2 tablespoons Milk (for glaze)

Directions

Step 1

In a small saucepan over medium heat, warm the milk until it's lukewarm (around 105°F). Remove from heat and sprinkle the active dry yeast on top. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.

Step 2

While the yeast activates, melt 4 tablespoons of butter and let it cool slightly.

Step 3

In a large mixing bowl, combine 3 cups of flour, granulated sugar, and salt. Mix well.

Step 4

To the dry ingredients, add the yeast-milk mixture, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract. Stir until the dough starts to come together.

Step 5

Gradually add the remaining 1 cup of flour, kneading the dough until it is smooth and elastic. This may take 6-8 minutes by hand or 4-5 minutes with a stand mixer fitted with a dough hook.

Step 6

Transfer the dough to a lightly greased bowl, cover it with a damp kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.

Step 7

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into small balls, roughly 1.5 inches in diameter.

Step 8

In a shallow dish, combine the brown sugar and cinnamon for coating.

Step 9

Melt the remaining 4 tablespoons of butter. Dip each dough ball first into the melted butter, then roll it in the cinnamon-sugar mixture to coat thoroughly.

Step 10

Grease a bundt pan with nonstick cooking spray. Arrange the coated dough balls in the pan, layering as needed until all the dough is used.

Step 11

Cover the pan with a towel and let it rise again for 30 minutes.

Step 12

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the pull-apart bread for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.

Step 13

Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then carefully invert it onto a serving plate.

Step 14

For the glaze, whisk together powdered sugar and milk until smooth. Drizzle it over the warm bread before serving.

Step 15

Serve warm, and enjoy Nana's Pull-Apart Bread with family and friends!
