Ingredients

  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 0.75 cups Warm water
  • 1 pound Ground pork
  • 3 stalks Green onions, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Ginger, grated
  • 2 tablespoons Soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Sesame oil
  • 0.5 teaspoons Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoons White pepper (optional)
  • 1 cup Cabbage, finely shredded
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable oil
  • 0.5 cup Water (for steaming or cooking)

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour with warm water. Stir until a rough dough forms.

Step 2

Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Cover with a damp cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes.

Step 3

While the dough rests, prepare the filling by mixing ground pork, green onions, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, white pepper (if using), and shredded cabbage in a separate bowl. Combine thoroughly.

Step 4

After the dough has rested, roll it into a long rope and cut it into 1-inch pieces. Roll each piece into a ball.

Step 5

Flatten each ball with a rolling pin to create 3-inch circles. Make sure the edges are thinner than the center.

Step 6

Place a small spoonful of filling in the center of each circle. Fold the dough over the filling to form a crescent shape, and pleat the edges to seal tightly.

Step 7

For steaming: Arrange dumplings in a steamer basket lined with parchment paper or cabbage leaves to prevent sticking. Steam over boiling water for 10–12 minutes until the filling is fully cooked.

Step 8

For pan-frying: Heat vegetable oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Arrange the dumplings in the skillet and cook until the bottoms are golden brown, about 2 minutes. Add 0.5 cups of water to the skillet, cover with a lid, and steam until the water has evaporated, about 5–7 minutes. Remove the lid and cook for an additional 1–2 minutes to crisp up the bottoms.

Step 9

Serve dumplings hot with soy sauce or your favorite dipping sauce.
