  • 1 medium, finely chopped Onion
  • 3 cloves, minced Garlic
  • 500 grams Ground beef
  • 800 grams (canned) Crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons Tomato paste
  • 0.5 teaspoons Cinnamon
  • 0.5 teaspoons Nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon Dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon Dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoons Ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar
  • 50 grams (grated, for garnish) Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons (chopped, for garnish) Fresh parsley

Directions

Step 1

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the spaghetti according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Step 2

Heat the olive oil in a large skillet or saucepan over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté for 3-4 minutes until translucent.

Step 3

Add the minced garlic to the pan and cook for an additional 1 minute, stirring frequently to avoid burning.

Step 4

Add the ground beef to the skillet. Break it up with a wooden spoon and cook until browned and fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess grease if necessary.

Step 5

Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, cinnamon, nutmeg, oregano, basil, salt, black pepper, and sugar. Mix well to combine.

Step 6

Lower the heat to a simmer and let the sauce cook uncovered for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking or burning.

Step 7

Taste the sauce and adjust seasonings if needed.

Step 8

Toss the cooked spaghetti with the sauce in the skillet or serve the sauce ladled over individual portions of spaghetti.

Step 9

Garnish with grated Parmesan cheese and chopped fresh parsley. Serve immediately and enjoy the festive flavors!
