Ingredients

  • 6 large Fresh peaches
  • 1 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoon Ground nutmeg
  • 1 cup All-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon Baking powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon Salt
  • 8 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 0.75 cup Whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons Brown sugar

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Step 2

Peel the peaches, remove the pits, and slice them into thin wedges.

Step 3

In a medium bowl, toss the peach slices with 1/2 cup of granulated sugar, ground cinnamon, and ground nutmeg. Set aside to allow the peaches to release their juices.

Step 4

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and the remaining 1/2 cup of granulated sugar.

Step 5

Melt the unsalted butter in a 9x13-inch baking dish by placing it in the preheated oven for 5 minutes. Remove the dish from the oven once the butter is fully melted.

Step 6

Stir the milk and vanilla extract into the dry ingredients to form a smooth batter.

Step 7

Pour the batter evenly over the melted butter in the baking dish. Do not stir.

Step 8

Spoon the peach mixture evenly over the batter, including the juices. Again, do not stir.

Step 9

Sprinkle the top with brown sugar to create a caramelized finish.

Step 10

Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until the cobbler is golden brown and bubbling.

Step 11

Allow the cobbler to cool for 10 minutes before serving. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream, if desired.
