Ingredients

  • 3 pounds pork spareribs
  • 1 tablespoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 275°F (135°C).

Step 2

Remove the silver skin membrane from the back of the spareribs using a knife and a paper towel for grip.

Step 3

Rub the spareribs with olive oil to help the seasoning stick.

Step 4

In a small bowl, mix kosher salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and brown sugar. Generously coat both sides of the ribs with this spice rub.

Step 5

Place the seasoned spareribs on a large baking sheet lined with aluminum foil. Cover the ribs tightly with another sheet of aluminum foil to seal in the moisture during cooking.

Step 6

Bake the ribs in the preheated oven for 2.5 hours, or until they are tender and the meat starts pulling away from the bones.

Step 7

While the ribs are baking, prepare the glaze by mixing barbecue sauce with apple cider vinegar in a small bowl.

Step 8

Once the ribs are done baking, remove them from the oven and carefully remove the foil (watch out for steam).

Step 9

Preheat your grill to medium heat, or set your oven to broil.

Step 10

Brush the ribs generously with the barbecue sauce glaze on both sides.

Step 11

If using a grill, place the ribs on the grates and cook for 5-7 minutes per side, basting with remaining glaze and allowing the sauce to caramelize. If using the oven, place the ribs under the broiler for 5-7 minutes, watching carefully to prevent burning.

Step 12

Remove the ribs, let them rest for 5 minutes, and then slice them into individual portions. Serve hot and enjoy!
