Ingredients

  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 cup Unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 0.75 cup Milk
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla extract
  • 0.75 cup Brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 cup Unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1 tablespoon Powdered sugar (optional for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x9-inch square baking dish.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

Step 3

In a separate bowl, whisk together the melted butter, eggs, milk, and vanilla extract.

Step 4

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and gently fold until just combined, making sure not to overmix.

Step 5

Pour the cake batter into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly with a spatula.

Step 6

In a small bowl, prepare the streusel topping by combining the brown sugar and cinnamon. Cut in the cubed butter using a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Step 7

Sprinkle the streusel evenly over the cake batter.

Step 8

Bake in the preheated oven for 35–40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.

Step 9

Let the cake cool in the pan for 10–15 minutes before slicing.

Step 10

If desired, dust with powdered sugar before serving.
