Ingredients

  • 4 cups Grape juice (red or white)
  • 2 cups Apple juice
  • 1 whole Orange
  • 2 whole Cinnamon sticks
  • 5 pieces Whole cloves
  • 1 whole Star anise
  • 3 whole Cardamom pods
  • 1 inch piece Fresh ginger
  • 2 tablespoons Honey or maple syrup (optional)
  • 1 cup Water

Directions

Step 1

Wash the orange thoroughly and slice it into thin rounds.

Step 2

Peel the ginger and slice it into thin coins.

Step 3

In a large saucepan, combine the grape juice, apple juice, and water.

Step 4

Add the orange slices, cinnamon sticks, cloves, star anise, cardamom pods, and sliced ginger to the pan.

Step 5

Place the saucepan over medium heat and slowly bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. Do not let it boil as this can degrade the flavors.

Reduce the heat to low and allow the mixture to simmer gently for 15–20 minutes. This will give the spices time to infuse the juices.
