Ingredients

  • 4 pounds Pork ribs
  • 1 cup Molasses
  • 0.5 cup Ketchup
  • 0.25 cup Apple cider vinegar
  • 0.25 cup Brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon Smoked paprika
  • 0.25 teaspoon Cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1 cup Water

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).

Step 2

Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs, if it hasn’t already been removed, for a more tender result.

Step 3

Season both sides of the ribs with a mix of salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Set aside while preparing the sauce.

Step 4

In a medium saucepan, combine the molasses, ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, and 1 cup of water.

Step 5

Bring the mixture to a low simmer over medium heat, stirring frequently, until the sauce thickens slightly, about 10 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

Step 6

Place the ribs in a large baking dish or on a sheet pan lined with aluminum foil.

Step 7

Brush both sides of the ribs generously with the molasses sauce, reserving some for basting later.

Step 8

Cover the ribs tightly with aluminum foil and place in the preheated oven.

Step 9

Bake for 2 1/2 hours, or until the ribs are tender and the meat is pulling away from the bones.

Step 10

Remove the foil and increase the oven temperature to 425°F (220°C).

Step 11

Brush the ribs with more molasses sauce and return them to the oven, uncovered, for an additional 15-20 minutes, basting every 5 minutes, until the ribs are caramelized and sticky.

Step 12

Remove the ribs from the oven and let them rest for 5 minutes before slicing.

Step 13

Serve warm with any remaining sauce on the side for dipping.
