  • 12 pieces Lasagna noodles
  • 1 lb Ground beef
  • 0.5 lb Italian sausage
  • 1 medium Yellow onion, finely chopped
  • 3 pieces Garlic cloves, minced
  • 28 oz Crushed tomatoes
  • 6 oz Tomato paste
  • 2 tsp Dried basil
  • 2 tsp Dried oregano
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 0.5 tsp Black pepper
  • 16 oz Ricotta cheese
  • 1 large Egg
  • 2 tbsp Fresh parsley, chopped
  • 3 cups Mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Step 2

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the lasagna noodles according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and lay the noodles flat on a baking sheet to prevent sticking.

Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until translucent, about 5 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.

Add the ground beef and Italian sausage to the skillet. Cook until browned, breaking up the meat into small crumbles with a spoon, about 8-10 minutes. Drain any excess fat.

Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, dried basil, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Let the sauce simmer on low heat for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

In a medium bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, egg, and fresh parsley. Mix well and set aside.

To assemble the lasagna, spread a thin layer of the meat sauce on the bottom of an 8x8-inch (20x20 cm) baking dish. Lay three lasagna noodles over the sauce. Spread a layer of the ricotta mixture over the noodles, followed by a sprinkling of mozzarella and Parmesan cheese. Repeat the layers (sauce, noodles, ricotta, mozzarella, Parmesan) until all ingredients are used, ending with a generous layer of mozzarella and Parmesan cheese on top.

Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil, making sure the foil does not touch the cheese layer.

Bake the lasagna in the preheated oven for 40 minutes. Then remove the foil and bake for another 15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
