Ingredients

  • 12 ounces egg noodles
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 0.75 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 0.5 cup raisins (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup crushed cornflakes or breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 2 tablespoons additional sugar (for topping)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with butter or nonstick spray.

Step 2

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the egg noodles according to package instructions until just tender. Drain and toss with 6 tablespoons of unsalted butter until thoroughly coated.

Step 3

In a large mixing bowl, beat together the eggs, sour cream, cream cheese, granulated sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.

Step 4

Gently fold the cooked noodles into the egg and cream mixture. If desired, stir in the raisins.

Step 5

Pour the noodle mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.

Step 6

In a small bowl, mix the crushed cornflakes or breadcrumbs with the melted butter, sugar, and ground cinnamon. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the top of the kugel.

Step 7

Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the kugel is set. A knife inserted into the center should come out clean.

Step 8

Allow the kugel to cool slightly before slicing. Serve warm or at room temperature as a delicious side dish or dessert.
