Ingredients

  • 2.5 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon Baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 cup Unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 cup Granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cup Light brown sugar (packed)
  • 1 large Egg
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon Milk
  • 1.5 cups Optional: Chocolate chips, nuts, or raisins

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.

Step 2

In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.

Step 3

In a large mixing bowl, use a hand mixer or stand mixer to cream the softened butter, granulated sugar, and light brown sugar together until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.

Step 4

Add the egg, vanilla extract, and milk to the butter-sugar mixture and mix until fully incorporated.

Step 5

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing on low speed until just combined. If using chocolate chips, nuts, or raisins, fold them in at this stage.

Step 6

Using a tablespoon or a small cookie scoop, portion out the dough and roll it into balls. Place them about 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheets.

Step 7

Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden but the centers are still soft.

Step 8

Remove the cookies from the oven and allow them to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Step 9

Serve and enjoy! Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
