Ingredients

  • 500 grams ground beef
  • 60 grams breadcrumbs
  • 60 milliliters milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 medium onion
  • 300 grams frozen peas
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 500 milliliters beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, minced garlic, oregano, paprika, 0.5 teaspoon of salt, and black pepper. Mix well until evenly combined.

Step 2

Form the mixture into small meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter, and set aside on a plate.

Step 3

Finely chop the onion and set it aside.

Step 4

Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet or deep pan over medium-high heat. Add the meatballs in batches if necessary, and sear them on all sides until browned. Remove the meatballs and set aside.

Step 5

In the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Sauté the chopped onion until softened, about 3-4 minutes.

Step 6

Stir in the tomato paste and cook for 1-2 minutes, allowing it to caramelize slightly.

Step 7

Pour in the beef broth and bring it to a simmer. Taste and adjust seasoning with the remaining 0.5 teaspoon of salt, if necessary.

Step 8

Add the browned meatballs back to the skillet, cover, and simmer gently for 15 minutes, allowing the meatballs to cook through.

Step 9

After 15 minutes, add the frozen peas to the skillet. Stir to combine and cook for another 5-7 minutes, until the peas are tender and the flavors have melded together.

Step 10

Garnish with freshly chopped parsley before serving. Serve hot with rice, pasta, or crusty bread for a complete meal.
