  • 0.5 teaspoons Ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoons Dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoons Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoons Black pepper
  • 200 grams Halloumi cheese, grated
  • 250 grams Ricotta cheese
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 0.25 teaspoons Grated nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon All-purpose flour
  • 150 milliliters Milk

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).

Step 2

Slice the eggplants lengthwise into 1 cm (0.5 inch) thick slices. Brush both sides with olive oil and arrange them on a baking sheet. Roast for 20 minutes, flipping halfway, until tender and slightly golden.

While the eggplants are roasting, prepare the meat sauce. Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the diced onion and minced garlic, cooking until softened, about 3-4 minutes.

In a large baking dish, assemble the Moussaka by layering half the roasted eggplants at the bottom. Spread half of the meat sauce evenly over the eggplants. Repeat the layers one more time.

Pour the halloumi and ricotta topping over the final layer of meat sauce, spreading it evenly to cover the surface.

Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the topping is golden and set.
