Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground beef
  • 0.5 lb Ground pork
  • 0.5 cup Breadcrumbs
  • 0.25 cup Milk
  • 1 large Egg
  • 0.5 cup Onion, finely diced
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 0.5 tsp Black pepper
  • 1 cup Ketchup
  • 2 tbsp Brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp Apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp Yellow mustard
  • 0.5 tsp Smoked paprika
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil (for frying)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, finely diced onion, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

Step 3

Using your hands or a small ice cream scoop, shape the mixture into 1-inch meatballs. Place them on a large plate or tray.

Step 4

Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Working in batches, brown the meatballs on all sides, about 2-3 minutes per batch. They don’t need to be fully cooked at this stage, as they’ll finish cooking in the oven. Place the browned meatballs in a baking dish.

Step 5

In a medium bowl, combine the ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, apple cider vinegar, yellow mustard, and smoked paprika to make the barbecue sauce. Whisk until smooth.

Step 6

Pour the barbecue sauce evenly over the meatballs in the baking dish, ensuring they’re well coated.

Step 7

Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked through and the sauce is bubbling.

Step 8

Remove from the oven and let rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Step 9

Serve the meatballs hot, garnished with fresh parsley if desired. Enjoy!
