Ingredients

  • 300 grams all-purpose flour
  • 180 ml lukewarm water
  • 50 ml olive oil
  • 7 grams active dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons rosemary (fresh, chopped)
  • 1 teaspoon coarse sea salt
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)

Directions

Step 1

In a small bowl, combine the lukewarm water, active dry yeast, and honey. Stir gently and let it sit for 5-10 minutes until it begins to foam.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, sift together the flour and salt. Create a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture and half of the olive oil.

Step 3

Mix the ingredients together until a dough begins to form. Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead for 8-10 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic.

Step 4

Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with a damp kitchen towel, and let it rise for 1 hour in a warm place, or until it has doubled in size.

Step 5

Preheat your oven to 220°C (430°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 6

Once the dough has risen, punch it down to release excess air. Transfer it to the prepared baking sheet and stretch or roll it into a rectangle approximately 1cm thick.

Step 7

Drizzle the remaining olive oil over the surface of the dough. Use your fingertips to create small dimples all over the dough.

Step 8

Sprinkle the minced garlic, chopped rosemary, and coarse sea salt evenly across the top of the dough.

Step 9

Bake in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and crisp on the edges.

Step 10

Remove from the oven and allow the bread to cool slightly on a wire rack. Slice into pieces and serve warm or at room temperature.
