Ingredients

  • 500 grams Beef sirloin (thinly sliced)
  • 120 milliliters Soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Honey
  • 3 cloves Garlic (minced)
  • 1 teaspoon Ginger (grated)
  • 1 tablespoon Cornstarch
  • 60 milliliters Water
  • 1 tablespoon Sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame seeds (for garnish)
  • 2 stalks Green onions (sliced, for garnish)
  • 4 cups Cooked white rice (to serve)

Directions

Step 1

In a small bowl, combine the soy sauce, brown sugar, honey, minced garlic, grated ginger, and sesame oil. Whisk until the sugar is dissolved to create the teriyaki sauce.

Step 2

In another small bowl, mix the cornstarch with water to create a slurry. Set aside.

Step 3

Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the vegetable oil.

Step 4

Once the oil is hot, add the thinly sliced beef to the skillet in a single layer. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side or until nicely browned. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside on a plate.

Step 5

Reduce the heat to medium and pour the teriyaki sauce into the same skillet. Bring the sauce to a simmer.

Step 6

Stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens to your liking.

Step 7

Return the cooked beef to the skillet and toss it in the sauce until well coated. Cook for an additional 2 minutes to heat through.

Step 8

Remove from heat and transfer the beef teriyaki to a serving platter.

Step 9

Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions. Serve hot over steamed white rice for a complete meal.
