Ingredients

  • 0.5 cup Popcorn kernels
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable oil or coconut oil
  • 3 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon Granulated sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt

Directions

Step 1

Place a large, heavy-bottomed pot with a lid on medium heat. Add the vegetable oil or coconut oil, and let it heat for about 1 minute.

Step 2

Test the oil by adding 2 or 3 popcorn kernels. Once they pop, it’s ready. Remove the popped kernels and add the rest of the popcorn kernels to the pot.

Step 3

Sprinkle the granulated sugar evenly over the kernels. Shake the pot gently to coat the kernels with sugar.

Step 4

Cover the pot with the lid, leaving it slightly ajar to let steam escape. Shake the pot frequently to prevent the kernels and sugar from burning.

Step 5

Once the popping slows down to about 2 seconds between pops, remove the pot from heat and set it aside. Be careful when uncovering the lid, as hot steam may escape.

Step 6

In a small saucepan or microwave-safe bowl, melt the unsalted butter until fully liquid.

Step 7

Transfer the popped popcorn to a large serving bowl. Drizzle the melted butter over the popcorn and toss to coat evenly.

Step 8

Sprinkle the salt over the buttered popcorn, adjusting to your taste, and toss again to distribute.

Step 9

Serve immediately and enjoy the perfect balance of sweet and salty in every bite!
