Ingredients

  • 6 cups Leaf lettuce (romaine, butter, or other tender greens)
  • 4 slices Bacon
  • 3 tablespoons White vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons Granulated sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoons Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoons Ground black pepper
  • 2 stalks Green onions (sliced thin)

Directions

Step 1

Wash and dry the lettuce thoroughly. Tear the lettuce into bite-sized pieces and set it aside in a large salad bowl.

Step 2

In a large skillet, cook the bacon over medium heat until it is crispy. Remove the bacon from the skillet and place it on a paper towel-lined plate to cool. Once cooled, crumble the bacon into small pieces.

Step 3

Carefully remove all but about 2 tablespoons of the bacon drippings from the skillet. Keep the skillet on medium heat.

Step 4

Add the vinegar, sugar, salt, and black pepper to the skillet with the bacon drippings. Stir well and cook for about 1-2 minutes, or until the sugar has dissolved and the mixture begins to bubble.

Remove the skillet from the heat and immediately pour the hot dressing over the lettuce in the bowl. Toss gently to coat the lettuce evenly.

Step 6

Sprinkle the crumbled bacon and sliced green onions over the salad. Toss lightly once more to distribute the toppings.
