Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground beef
  • 1 medium Onion, diced
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 15 oz Tomato sauce
  • 6 oz Tomato paste
  • 2 tbsp Brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp Distilled white vinegar
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 0.5 tsp Black pepper
  • 12 oz Egg noodles, uncooked
  • 2 cups Sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 2 tbsp Fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish and set aside.

Step 2

Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook for 5-7 minutes, breaking it up with a wooden spoon, until browned. Drain any excess fat.

Step 3

Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet with the beef. Cook for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the onion is softened and translucent.

Step 4

Stir in the tomato sauce, tomato paste, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, white vinegar, salt, and black pepper. Reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, to develop the flavors.

Step 5

While the beef mixture is simmering, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the egg noodles according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Step 6

In the prepared baking dish, layer half of the cooked egg noodles, then pour half of the beef mixture on top and spread it evenly. Repeat with the remaining noodles and beef mixture.

Step 7

Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top of the casserole.

Step 8

Cover the dish tightly with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes. Then, remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Step 9

Remove from the oven and let the casserole rest for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley, if desired.

Step 10

Serve warm and enjoy!
