Ingredients

  • 4 cups broccoli florets
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic cloves, minced
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 3 tablespoons water
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)
  • 2 stalks green onions, sliced (optional, for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Wash and trim the broccoli into bite-sized florets if not already prepared.

Step 2

In a large skillet or wok, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat.

Step 3

Add the minced garlic to the skillet and stir-fry for 30 seconds or until fragrant.

Step 4

Add the broccoli florets to the skillet and stir-fry for 5-6 minutes, or until they are slightly tender and bright green.

Step 5

While the broccoli is cooking, prepare the sweet and sour sauce. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, honey, ketchup, and cornstarch. Add the water and mix until smooth.

Step 6

Pour the sauce over the cooked broccoli and stir well to coat evenly. Cook for 3-4 more minutes, or until the sauce thickens and the broccoli is tender but still crisp.

Step 7

Remove the skillet from heat and transfer the broccoli to a serving dish.

Step 8

Optional: Sprinkle sesame seeds and sliced green onions on top for garnish.

Step 9

Serve immediately as a side dish or over rice as a light vegetarian meal.
