Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 0.5 lb ground pork
  • 0.5 cup breadcrumbs
  • 0.25 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 0.5 cup yellow onion, finely chopped
  • 0.5 tsp garlic powder
  • 0.25 tsp ground allspice
  • 0.25 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 0.5 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, chopped onion, garlic powder, allspice, nutmeg, salt, and pepper. Mix gently with your hands until just combined.

Step 2

Roll the mixture into 1-inch meatballs and place them on a baking sheet. You should have about 20-24 meatballs.

Step 3

Heat a large skillet over medium heat and melt 1 tablespoon of butter. Cook the meatballs in batches, turning occasionally, until browned on all sides and cooked through (about 6-8 minutes per batch). Remove the cooked meatballs and set them aside on a plate.

Step 4

In the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of butter and melt it over medium heat. Sprinkle the flour over the melted butter and whisk continuously for about 1-2 minutes to make a roux.

Step 5

Slowly pour in the beef broth while whisking constantly to prevent lumps. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook until the sauce thickens, about 3-4 minutes.

Step 6

Reduce the heat to low and stir in the heavy cream, Dijon mustard, and Worcestershire sauce. Taste and adjust seasoning with additional salt and pepper, if needed.

Step 7

Return the meatballs to the skillet and spoon the sauce over them. Simmer gently for 5-7 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

Step 8

Garnish with freshly chopped parsley, if desired, and serve hot over mashed potatoes, egg noodles, or rice.
