Ingredients

  • 2 pounds chicken wings
  • 0.5 cup soy sauce
  • 0.25 cup honey
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, freshly grated
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 0.5 teaspoon pepper flakes (optional)
  • 2 stalks green onions, chopped (for garnish)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the soy sauce, honey, minced garlic, grated ginger, sesame oil, smoked paprika, and pepper flakes (if using). Whisk together until fully combined.

Step 2

Rinse and pat dry the chicken wings with paper towels. Place the wings in a large resealable plastic bag or a shallow dish.

Step 3

Pour the marinade over the wings, ensuring they are evenly coated. Seal the bag or cover the dish with plastic wrap. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to infuse.

Step 4

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and place a wire rack on top. Lightly grease the rack to prevent sticking.

Step 5

Remove the wings from the marinade and arrange them in a single layer on the prepared rack. Reserve the leftover marinade for basting.

Step 6

Bake the wings in the preheated oven for 20 minutes. Then, brush the wings with the reserved marinade and flip them over. Bake for an additional 15–20 minutes, or until the wings are golden brown and fully cooked with an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).

Step 7

For extra crispiness, broil the wings on high for 2–3 minutes, watching closely to avoid burning.

Step 8

Remove the wings from the oven and let them rest for 5 minutes. Transfer to a serving platter and garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.

Step 9

Serve warm as an appetizer or main course, and enjoy!
