Ingredients

  • 2 pounds Chicken wings
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 1 cup Cornstarch
  • 0.5 cup All-purpose flour
  • 4 cups Vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 0.25 cup Soy sauce
  • 0.25 cup Honey
  • 2 tablespoons Gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • 1 tablespoon Rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon Minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon Optional sesame seeds (for garnish)
  • 2 tablespoons Optional chopped green onions (for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Clean the chicken wings and pat them dry with paper towels.

Step 2

In a bowl, season the wings with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix well to coat evenly.

Step 3

In a separate bowl, combine cornstarch and all-purpose flour. Dredge each chicken wing in the mixture, ensuring an even coating, and set aside on a plate.

Step 4

Heat vegetable oil in a deep pot or fryer over medium-high heat to 350°F (175°C).

Step 5

Fry the chicken wings in batches, being careful not to overcrowd the pot. Cook each batch for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Remove and place on a wire rack or paper towels to drain excess oil.

Step 6

In a small saucepan, combine soy sauce, honey, gochujang, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and minced garlic. Heat over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens and becomes glossy (about 5 minutes). Remove from heat.

Step 7

Toss the fried chicken wings in the prepared sauce until evenly coated.

Step 8

Transfer the wings to a serving platter and garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions if desired.

Step 9

Serve immediately and enjoy this sweet, spicy, and savory dish!
