Ingredients

  • 3 cups Cheerios cereal
  • 1 cup Peanut butter
  • 0.5 cup Honey
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 0.5 cup Mini chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon Butter (for greasing)

Directions

Step 1

Lightly grease an 8x8-inch baking dish with butter and set it aside.

Step 2

In a medium saucepan over low heat, combine the peanut butter and honey. Stir continuously until the mixture is smooth and well-combined, about 2-3 minutes.

Step 3

Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract.

Step 4

In a large mixing bowl, add the Cheerios cereal. Pour the peanut butter and honey mixture over the Cheerios, and use a spatula to gently fold until all the cereal is evenly coated.

Step 5

Let the mixture cool slightly, about 2-3 minutes, then fold in the mini chocolate chips (reserve 2 tablespoons of the chocolate chips for topping, if desired).

Step 6

Transfer the mixture into the prepared baking dish. Use the back of a spoon or lightly greased hands to press the mixture evenly into the pan.

Step 7

Sprinkle the reserved mini chocolate chips on top and press them gently into the surface.

Step 8

Refrigerate the bars for at least 1 hour or until firm.

Step 9

Once set, remove the bars from the pan and cut into 12 even squares.

Step 10

Store the bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or refrigerate for up to a week.
